2015 Goals and Word of the Year

2015 Goals and Word of the Year - Earnest by LifeAsAConvert

Every year I have been choosing a word to focus on. The past few years I’ve done More, Less, and Christ-like. My 2015 word is going to be Earnest:

You can see last year’s goals and word here: (2014 Goals and Word of the Year). I like choosing a word to focus on because it sets the whole theme for the year. It becomes a motto of sorts and whenever I start questioning “What have I done this year?” I can think about my word and see the changes it has helped bring about. If you haven’t chosen your word yet, or if this is the first year you are choosing one, might I recommend Earnest?

I chose this word because

I love that it emphasizes sincerity and conviction. Far too often we go through tasks completing only the motions. I want to be sincere in what I do and have intense conviction.

I also have a list of goals, personal growth items, things to do, etc.  To make it a little less complicated I’ve separated them by category:

Blog Goals
When I started my blog, I started it as a personal journal/diary. I didn’t really expect it to grow, but I wanted to share my journey with others. Over the years my blog has grown to be more, and I am hoping to expand it even more in 2015. These goals are blog specific, and probably things I should have done a long time ago.

Delete old blog posts – edit/bump some others for SEO
Make better/Pinnable images
Blog 1-2 times weekly with focus on Reach and interaction
Set up social media scheduled shares
Update social media kit regularly
Promote YouTube channel more!!
Clean sidebar including: About Me. Popular Posts
Define and stick to my niche

Selfish Goals
These goals serve no purpose other than to appease some selfish desires of mine.

Reach level 50 in Diablo 2 :)
Read 12 new books for FUN
Complete my 30 before 30 list
Learn new makeup techniques
Complete 12 craft/DIY projects

Growth Goals
These growth goals are both personal and some I’d like for my children. They involve becoming a better person and helping others become better.

Teach Aybra to read!
Teach Losh to write his last name and 1-20
Serve others
Save save save
Create more income
Build more friendships
Create more worksheets

Family Goals
Every year I like to do something special with my family. It doesn’t have to be extravagant, but I like to create new memories with them. This year there are a few things I would like to do and a few things that I must do *ahemfamilypictures*. These include:

Take family pictures
Day and Night family prayer
Visit the zoo – maybe a new one
Visit a new park
Swim more

And that about sums it up. What is one of your goals for 2015?

I had never heard of picking a word of the year until this year. I don’t make resolutions, so I don’t think I will do this either, but I like the one you chose.

Funny Robin mentioned the word of the year, I have just been seeing that myself. I’m not sure I have any goals or resolutions for 2015 – I’ll have to think about it. Yours are good.

My goals are the same every year.. lose weight, watch what I eat and cut the soda. That goal lasts for about a week. I need to really stick with these.

Thank you for reminding me that I need to go set my Good Reads goal. I am also trying to set a goal of crafting for myself this year. Even though most of the projects I want to do tend to be for kiddo.

I love the idea of having a key word to look to for inspiration/motivation. Earnest is a good word, and I like your reasoning behind it.

My biggest goal is to grow my blog. I’m putting a ton of effort into it and am so happy with it – so hoping I can make it grow just a smudge!

I have a bunch of new goals similar to yours this year. Instead of calling them selfish, I prefer to think of it as personal growth. I want to learn to knit this year.

Happy New Year! It is great that you have thought 2015 through a bit and have set yourself some great goals. I get the felling that you will accomplish these and then some. I don’t have any goals set yet. I have a few things in mind but right now I am thinking about a few different directions I might go in with my blogging life.

My world of the year is going to be FOCUS. I tend to flit from one thing to the next, but need to buckle down and finish one thing before moving on to the next. Good luck with your 2015 goals!

I love choosing a new word for the New Year and mine is overcome. I’m working on that one right now and overcoming some big things. I hope that you find that your are sincere in all that you do.

Earnest is such a great focus word. I think when we have true conviction, we have the greatest success.
