Practice Makes Progress

Practice Makes Progress

Practice Makes Progress.

This is a phrase I say often. I don’t believe in Perfection, and teaching my kids that if they practice something they will perfect it seems wrong to me. Instead, we strive for progression.

Practice Makes Progress - A gentle reminder that perfection isn't required

As you saw in my 2016 goals post, I didn’t quite complete all of my 2015 goals, but I did make progress. I think part of that was because I just simply didn’t look back/read them often enough. To avoid that, I have printed my 2016 goals out and hung them in my bedroom where I will see them everyday as a reminder of what I want to accomplish.

Nevertheless, I wanted to share the progress of my 2015 goals. I added notes for some goals inside parenthesis. I plan on completing the list in 2016. I put a strike through the goals that were completed.

2015 Goals Progress:

Did you complete all of your 2015 Goals?

I find it easier to complete my goals if I make them according to what I am already focused on doing.

Upside-Down Devotion

What would you say if I told you that God despises your worship, doesn’t care about your prayers, and looks past your devotions? You would probably say the same thing I said when I began reading this book. That is insane. At least, that was my thoughts when I began reading this book. I wanted to close it and read something else, but my curiosity kept me reading and I am glad that I did.

Upside-Down Devotion: Extreme Action for a Remarkable God is a book that inspires us to do more for God and for our neighbors.  I often thought about Matthew 25:40 while reading:

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Charity Work

Did you know that the word “Charity” actually means “love”?

Charity is the pure love of Christ. It is the love that Christ has for the children of men and that the children of men should have for one another. It is the highest, noblest, and strongest kind of love and the most joyous to the soul (see 1 Nephi 11:23) (Source).

Citizenship – Community Service – 2014 Talks & Demos – 4H

A few weeks ago Kaia had the opportunity to present a talk about Community Service. It was part of a 4H activity, and in our efforts to get more involved I figured this “easy” activity would be the perfect thing to start with.
